Louisiana 1752 Club
A Rich Heritage
The 1752 Club has a rich heritage. The year 1752 was taken from the date March 26, 1752.
This was the founding date of the oldest property carrier in North America. The
Honorable Ben Franklin, along with a local group, organized "The Philadelphia
Contributionship for the Insurance of Houses From Loss By Fire" - a long name
for a Mutual Company. The company still survives.
Eligibility for membership is simple. Our membership is comprised of field representatives
and/or inside company marketing managers and others who engage in appointing independent
agents. This would include General Agents, Surplus Line Brokers, P & C Adjusters,
etc. Also eligible are marketing reps for service industries such as defense attorneys,
premium finance organizations, and computer related companies. In other words, if your
organization services the American Agency system, you, too, can be a member!
Our mission is to promote the insurance industry by offering educational opportunities,
promoting friendly social relations among our members, providing a venue for networking
among companies, agents, and agents associations and to generally raise the status of
the entire insurance industry with positive public relations.
The 1752 Club plays an important role in the Professional Insurance Agents organization.
Through the efforts of the 1752 Club membership, the message of PIA is taken to agents
throughout our territory. We are proud to have contributed to the revitalization of PIA
in the late 70.s and early 80.s and to continue our efforts today. Each spring we sponsor
a Spring Clinic with top-notch speakers on timely topics for Continuing Education credits.
This also brings agents together to socialize and enjoy fellowship.
Our membership roster includes the names of those who were instrumental in the very
beginning of this Chapter mingled with the newest generation to whom the responsibility
of leadership shall be given. To all the former members we say .thank you. for the legacy
and continuity you established. In their stead we see the new generation of leaders
continually emerge. We are confident their fresh approach will help sustain our chapter
and our relationship with PIA.
